Tafsir (Explanation):
What are these disbelievers waiting for, except the very fulfillment of what the Qur'an has promised them? They wait for the final outcome — the Day when the truth of every promise and warning becomes manifest. On that Day, when the reality of the Hereafter unfolds before their eyes, those who had abandoned the Qur'an and turned away from its guidance in their earthly life will cry out in regret and acknowledgment: "Indeed, the messengers of our Lord came with the truth! They were sincere in their call, and we were the ones who wronged ourselves by rejecting them."
Then, in their desperate state, they will plead: "Is there any intercessor who can plead on our behalf before our Lord? Or can we be sent back to the world so that we may do righteous deeds instead of the evil we used to commit?" But this request comes far too late — the door of return has been sealed forever, and no intercessor will avail them on that Day, for they had rejected intercession when it was offered to them through faith.
Alas, they have truly lost themselves — they have brought utter ruin upon their own souls by persisting in disbelief until the very end. And all that they used to fabricate — the false gods they worshipped, the lies Satan whispered to them, and the hopes they clung to — has vanished completely, leaving them with nothing but regret and loss.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse is a profound reminder of the urgency of now. The Qur'an is not merely a book to be recited — it is a living guide whose promises and warnings will inevitably come to pass. Do not wait until the Day when the truth becomes undeniable, for on that Day, regret will not benefit anyone. Today, the door of repentance is wide open, and the mercy of Allah is within your reach. Take hold of this moment, return to your Lord, and let the Qur'an guide your steps — for the One who revealed it is the Most Merciful, and He loves nothing more than the return of His servant to Him. Do not be among those who "forgot" the Qur'an until it was too late. Be among those who live by it, so that on that Day, you may be among those who rejoice in its fulfillment rather than weep over its neglect.
