📖 English Meaning
And when the trumpet is blown,
📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Nūqira (نُقِرَ): It means to be blown into, specifically the second blowing of the Trumpet (Sur) by the angel Israfil, which signals the resurrection.
  • An-Nāqūr (النَّاقُور): The Trumpet (Sur) — a horn-like instrument that will be blown into by the angel Israfil (peace be upon him) to announce the Day of Judgment.

Explanation of the Verse:

When the Trumpet is blown for the second time — the blast of resurrection and standing before Allah — that will be the moment when all creation rises from their graves. This verse points to the certainty of that inevitable hour, when every soul will be summoned to face its Lord. The second blow is the one that brings the dead back to life, and it is a day of extreme hardship for the disbelievers — a day when they will find no escape from the reckoning and its terrors. It will not be easy for them to avoid what they once denied; rather, they will be confronted with the full reality of their deeds, and the horrors of that day will surround them from every side.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, this verse is a gentle yet firm reminder that this worldly life is not the end. The Trumpet will surely be blown, and we will all stand before Allah — the Most Just, the Most Merciful. Imagine that moment: the graves opening, hearts pounding, and every soul facing what it has sent forth. For the believer who lived in obedience and repentance, that day will be a day of joy and reward. But for the one who turned away, it will be a day of regret and distress. So let this verse awaken your heart today — before that Trumpet is blown — and draw you closer to your Creator. Turn to Him in sincere repentance, hold fast to His guidance, and let your life be a preparation for that meeting. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has given us this warning out of love, so that we may not be among the regretful on that mighty Day. Do not delay; the door of repentance is open, and His mercy encompasses all things.
