Surah Al-Qiyamah — Verse 17

When the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) would bring down the verses of the Qur'an, the Prophet would hasten to move his tongue and lips, eager to memorize the words immediately for fear that they might slip away from him.

Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, tells him: "Do not rush, O Prophet. Indeed, upon Us is its collection and its recitation." This means that the responsibility of preserving the Qur'an in the Prophet's heart and enabling him to recite it fluently rests entirely with Allah Himself. It is not a burden upon the Prophet to strive and struggle in memorizing it on the spot. Allah guarantees that He will gather the Qur'an securely in the Prophet's chest, so that not a single letter will be lost, and He will make its recitation flow easily upon his tongue whenever he wishes to recite it.

This verse is a profound lesson in trust and reliance upon Allah. It teaches us that when Allah undertakes a matter, He fulfills it perfectly. The preservation of the Qur'an was not left to human effort alone—it was divinely guaranteed.
