Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Wād al-Muqaddas: The purified, blessed valley.
- Ṭuwā: The name of the sacred valley located in Sinai, where Allah spoke to Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him).
Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse takes us back to the very beginning of a magnificent prophetic mission. Allah reminds us of the moment when He called out to His servant and Messenger, Musa (peace be upon him), in the blessed and purified valley of Ṭuwā, located in the sacred land of Sinai. This was not an ordinary call—it was a divine summons that would change the course of history and illuminate the path of guidance for humanity.
In this holy place, Allah chose to speak directly to Musa, honoring him with His words and preparing him for a great responsibility. The valley was "purified" because it was chosen as the setting for this profound divine communication, a place where the glory of Allah’s revelation touched the earth. The mention of this sacred location serves to highlight the greatness of the event and the honor bestowed upon Musa, who was called by his Lord with love, care, and purpose.
This verse is a powerful reminder that Allah reaches out to His servants in the most unexpected places and moments. He chose a shepherd who had fled his homeland, seeking safety, and elevated him to the rank of prophethood in a valley that would forever be remembered as blessed. It teaches us that no matter our circumstances, Allah’s guidance can find us, purify us, and set us on a path of noble purpose—if we are willing to listen and respond to His call.
Reflection and Da‘wah:
Dear reader, imagine the honor of being called by the Creator of the heavens and the earth! That honor was granted to Musa, and through this story, Allah invites you to recognize His voice in your own life—through the Qur’an, through the call of faith, and through the signs around you. The same Lord who called Musa in the sacred valley is calling you today to come closer to Him, to purify your heart, and to embrace the beauty of Islam. Do not let the noise of this world drown out that call. Respond with sincerity, and you will find a peace and purpose that nothing else can provide. The door of His mercy is always open, and His love for His servants is greater than any hardship you may face.
