Word Meanings:

  • مَاءٍ دَافِقٍ (ma'in dafiq): flowing or gushing fluid — meaning the seminal fluid that is emitted and poured forth rapidly.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse calls upon the human being who denies the Resurrection to reflect upon his own humble origin. He was created from a fluid that gushes forth with force and speed — a substance that is poured into the womb. This fluid emerges from between the loins of the man and the chest of the woman, combining to form the beginning of human life.

The One who brought this being into existence from such a simple, weak drop is certainly able to bring him back to life after death. The very act of creation — from nothing, through a mere gush of liquid — is a testament to the infinite power of Allah. If He could originate life from such a humble beginning, then restoring life after death is even easier for Him.

This is an invitation to ponder: how can one who acknowledges his own creation from a drop of fluid then doubt the Creator's ability to recreate him? The power that initiated is the same power that will return. The verse gently but firmly redirects the skeptic's gaze from arrogance to humility, reminding him that his existence is not self-made but a gift from the Almighty — and the One who gives can also take away and bring back.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, look at yourself in the mirror of this verse. You were once nothing — a mere drop, unnoticed and unremarkable. Yet Allah fashioned you into a living, breathing, thinking human being. Does the One who performed that first miracle of creation lack the power to do it again? Certainly not! So let this reflection fill your heart with hope and gratitude. Your Lord, who created you with such care, has promised to bring you back — not to punish you unjustly, but to reward your good deeds and show you His mercy. Do not let doubt rob you of this beautiful promise. Turn to your Creator with trust, for He who began your story is more than capable of completing it in the most perfect way.
