- khuliq (خُلِقَ): Was created — referring to the origin of human existence.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah calls upon the human being — especially the one who stubbornly denies the Return to Him — to pause and reflect: *From what was he created?* This is not a casual question, but a profound invitation to trace one's own origin back to its humble beginning.
The human being was created from a drop of fluid that gushes forth rapidly into the womb — a sperm that emerges from between the loins of the man and the ribcage of the woman. This tiny, seemingly insignificant drop — invisible to the naked eye, weak in itself, and incapable of directing its own path — becomes, by the will of Allah, the starting point of a complete human being with eyes that see, ears that hear, a heart that feels, and a mind that reasons.
When a person truly contemplates this reality, the greatness of Allah becomes undeniable. The One who created this magnificent being from such a humble origin — is He not able to bring him back to life after death? Indeed, the One who originated creation from nothing is even more capable of re-creating it. The second creation is not more difficult than the first; rather, it is easier in the divine order of things.
This reflection serves a dual purpose: it reveals the absolute power of Allah, and it exposes the utter weakness and dependence of the human being. How can one who was once a mere drop of fluid now turn arrogant and deny his Creator? How can he reject the Resurrection when his very existence is a living proof of Allah's ability to create and recreate?
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, look at yourself in the mirror. Trace your existence back to its origin. That fragile drop — so small that it cannot be seen without a microscope — carried within it the blueprint of your entire being: your height, your features, your intelligence, your very soul. Who placed that knowledge within it? Who guided it through its journey until you became who you are today?
This is not merely a scientific fact; it is a sign from your Lord. Every time you remember your humble beginning, let it fill your heart with humility before Allah, and with certainty that the One who created you once is fully capable of bringing you back. Do not let pride and arrogance blind you to this simple truth. Return to your Lord before the day comes when you will stand before Him, and every secret of your origin will be laid bare.
The One who created you from a drop of fluid — how could you doubt His power to resurrect you? Reflect, and let this reflection lead you to faith, gratitude, and righteous action.
