Key Words and Phrases:

  • "Rabbuka" (رَبُّكَ): Your Lord, the One who nurtures, sustains, and bestows blessings upon you.
  • "Tu'ṭā" (يُعْطِيكَ): Will give you — a promise of abundant, comprehensive giving.
  • "Fa-tarḍā" (فَتَرْضَىٰ): So that you will be pleased and satisfied — a state of complete contentment with what has been granted.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse is a direct, personal, and profound promise from Allah to His beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. After the previous verse affirmed that the Hereafter is far better for him than this worldly life, this verse expands on that promise with a specific and glorious assurance: *"And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied."*

The giving mentioned here is not limited to a single blessing; rather, it encompasses an immense and overflowing bounty that Allah will bestow upon His Messenger in the Hereafter. This includes the highest ranks of Paradise, the praised station (Al-Maqām al-Maḥmūd), and the greatest honor of all — the right of intercession (Ash-Shafā'ah) for his Ummah (nation). The Prophet ﷺ will intercede for his followers, and Allah will accept his intercession to such an extent that he will be fully pleased and content — not just for himself, but for the salvation and elevation of his entire community.

This verse was revealed at a time when the Prophet ﷺ was facing hardship and opposition, and it served as a divine consolation, assuring him that the trials of this world are temporary, while the rewards of the Hereafter are eternal and beyond measure. The promise is so certain that it is expressed with the emphatic particle "la-sawfa" (certainly, soon), leaving no room for doubt.

A Da'wah Reflection for the Reader:

Imagine the honor bestowed upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — that his Lord, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, personally promises him a gift so vast that it will bring him complete satisfaction. This is the love and generosity of Allah towards His righteous servants. If this is the reward for the one who patiently bore the trials of conveying the message, then what about the mercy that awaits those who follow him with sincerity?

This verse teaches us a beautiful lesson: no matter how difficult your circumstances may seem today, Allah's promise of goodness for the believers is certain. The Prophet ﷺ, who faced the loss of his beloved wife Khadijah and his uncle Abu Talib, who was mocked and persecuted in Ta'if, was told that his Lord would give him until he is pleased. So, dear reader, hold firm to your faith, trust in Allah's plan, and know that the Hereafter is infinitely better than this fleeting world. Your patience and perseverance in this life will be met with a reward that will fill your heart with joy and satisfaction forever. Let this promise to the Prophet ﷺ be a source of hope and strength for you as well, for Allah's mercy and generosity know no bounds.
