Word Meanings:

  • Āmanū – Those who believed with sincere faith in Allah and His messengers.
  • ʿAmilū al-Ṣāliḥāt – Performed righteous deeds, actions that are sound, sincere, and in accordance with Allah’s commands.
  • Ajrun – A reward, recompense.
  • Ghayru Mamnūn – Never cut off, never diminished, never exhausted; a reward that is continuous and without any sense of being counted or withheld.

Explanation of the Verse:

After Allah Almighty swore by the fig, the olive, Mount Sinai, and the secure city of Makkah, and after He declared that He created the human being in the finest form—yet warned that those who disbelieve and disobey will be cast down to the lowest of the low—He now makes a clear exception. He says: *"Except those who believe and do righteous deeds."* These are the people who have not wasted their God-given nature; rather, they have purified it through faith and good action. For them, even if they reach old age and their physical strength declines, their reward is not lost. Allah writes for them the full reward of their deeds, just as they performed them in their youth and strength. Their reward is *ghayru mamnūn*—a reward that is never cut off, never diminished, and never accompanied by any sense of being counted or withheld. It is the everlasting bliss of Paradise, a gift from Allah that flows endlessly, without interruption and without end.

A Daʿwah Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse is a door of hope that Allah has left wide open for every one of us. No matter how many mistakes you have made, no matter how far you may have strayed, the moment you turn to Allah with sincere faith and begin to do righteous deeds—even small ones—you are included in this blessed exception. Your reward with Allah is not like the wages of this world, which are counted, limited, and eventually exhausted. The reward of Allah is *ghayru mamnūn*: it is a river that never runs dry, a treasure that never depletes, and a grace that never ends. So do not despair, and do not underestimate the value of a single good deed done with sincerity. Allah sees it, preserves it, and will return it to you multiplied beyond your imagination. Embrace faith, act upon it, and rest assured that your Lord never breaks His promise and never withholds what He has decreed for His righteous servants.

📜 Verse 4-8 — At-Tin

We have certainly created man in the best of stature;
Then We return him to the lowest of the low,
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.
So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?
Is not Allah the most just of judges?
