Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Your supplication): The prayer and invocation made by both Musa and Harun (peace be upon them) against Pharaoh and his chiefs.
(So remain steadfast): Continue firmly and unwaveringly upon the path of truth and obedience to Allah.
(The way of those who do not know): The path of those who are ignorant of Allah’s command, His promise, and His warning.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Allah Almighty addresses His two prophets, Musa and Harun (peace be upon them), responding to their supplication against Pharaoh and his oppressive chiefs. The prayer was primarily made by Musa, while Harun would say "Ameen" to it — and since the Ameen is itself a form of supplication, Allah attributed the answered prayer to both of them, honoring their unity and brotherhood in calling upon Him.

Allah tells them: "Your prayer has been answered." The punishment upon Pharaoh and his people was decreed — their wealth would be destroyed, and they would be drowned in the sea. Yet, alongside this glad tidings of answered prayer, Allah gives them a profound command: "So remain steadfast" — meaning, continue firmly upon your mission, uphold your religion, and persist in calling Pharaoh and his people to the worship of Allah alone, without faltering or weakening.

Then Allah adds: "And do not follow the way of those who do not know" — that is, do not adopt the path of the ignorant who are unaware of Allah’s true promise and warning, who do not comprehend the reality of His justice and His decree. The prophets were commanded to remain patient and resolute, trusting in Allah’s timing and wisdom, rather than being swayed by the apparent delay of victory or the arrogance of the oppressors.

This verse carries a timeless lesson for every believer: when Allah answers our prayers, we must not become complacent or deviate from the straight path. Rather, the response to divine favor is increased steadfastness, greater obedience, and unwavering trust in Allah’s plan. The believers are reminded that true knowledge is knowing Allah’s command and submitting to it wholeheartedly, while ignorance leads one astray from the path of righteousness.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear believer, see how Allah responded to His prophets with both mercy and guidance — He granted their request and simultaneously directed them to remain firm. This teaches us that answered prayers are not the end of the journey, but a milestone upon it. Our duty is to persist in righteousness, to trust in Allah’s wisdom, and to never abandon the path of knowledge and truth, no matter how long the road may seem. Let this verse inspire you to pray with sincerity, to stand firm in your faith, and to seek knowledge that leads you closer to your Lord — for the way of those who know their Lord is the way of success in this life and the Hereafter.

📜 Verse 87-91 — Yunus

And We inspired to Moses and his brother, "Settle your people in Egypt in houses and make your houses [facing the] qiblah and establish prayer and give good tidings to the believers."
And Moses said, "Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life, our Lord, that they may lead [men] astray from Your way. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment."
[Allah] said, "Your supplication has been answered." So remain on a right course and follow not the way of those who do not know."
And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims."
Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters?
