- Jamī'an — "All together" emphasizes that they should gather all their forces and allies.
- Lā tunẓirūn — "Do not give me respite" means do not grant me any delay or waiting period.
Tafsir (Explanation):
The verse continues the dialogue between Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) and his people, who had just accused him of being afflicted with madness because of their idols. They said: "We only say that some of our gods have stricken you with evil because you forbid us from worshipping them."
In response, Hud declares his complete innocence and separation from their false beliefs. He says: "I call Allah to witness, and you too bear witness, that I am free from everything you associate with Him — all your idols, statues, and false deities that you worship besides Allah."
Then he challenges them with remarkable courage and unwavering faith: "So plot against me, all of you together — you and your gods that you claim have harmed me — and then do not give me any respite, not even the blink of an eye. Do not delay your schemes for a single moment."
This is not arrogance or recklessness; it is the confidence of a true believer who knows with absolute certainty that Allah protects His messengers. Hud was so secure in his trust in Allah that he dared his entire nation, along with all their idols, to try to harm him — knowing full well that they could never succeed. The idols they worshipped were powerless, and the people themselves were weak against the will of Allah.
Da'wah Reflection:
This verse teaches us a profound lesson in tawakkul (reliance on Allah) and steadfastness in the face of opposition. When you stand firmly for the truth, Allah grants you a courage that defies all odds. Hud's words echo through time as a reminder that no plot, no scheme, and no power on earth can touch a believer who places their complete trust in Allah. The idols of this world — whether they are material wealth, social status, or human authority — are all powerless before the might of the Creator. Let this be an inspiration for every Muslim: when you are on the path of truth, fear no one but Allah, and let your confidence in His protection make you bold in calling others to goodness. The One who protected Hud from an entire nation can protect you too, for His promise is true and His help is near.
