- Bil-Qisṭ (بالقسط): With full justice and fairness, without any deficiency or excess.

Tafsir (Explanation):
O my people, complete the measure and the weight with full justice and fairness. When you give others their due—whether in buying, selling, or any transaction—do so honestly and completely, without skimping or defrauding. Do not reduce people's rights in any of their belongings, whether in goods, money, or services, through cheating, deception, or trickery. And do not walk the earth spreading corruption and mischief—such as killing, oppression, theft, and all acts of disobedience to Allah—for such actions destroy societies and bring about the wrath of the Almighty.
This noble call from Prophet Shuʿayb (peace be upon him) to his people carries a timeless message for all of humanity. Islam places great emphasis on honesty in all dealings, for economic justice is the backbone of a thriving society. When people cheat in trade, trust collapses, wealth is unjustly concentrated, and social harmony is shattered. The Prophet ﷺ said: "The truthful and trustworthy merchant will be with the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs" (At-Tirmidhi). What an honor awaits those who deal fairly with others!
Moreover, the prohibition against spreading corruption in the earth is comprehensive—it covers all forms of harm, whether physical, moral, economic, or environmental. A true believer is a source of benefit to others, not harm. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others" (Al-Muʿjam al-Awsat). Let this beautiful guidance inspire you to be a person of integrity, honesty, and righteousness in every aspect of your life. By upholding justice in your dealings and avoiding corruption, you not only secure your worldly affairs but also earn the pleasure of Allah and His eternal rewards in the Hereafter.
