  • Rawadtunna (رَاوَدتُّنَّ): You sought to seduce or tempt him.
  • Hasha lillah (حَاشَ لِلَّهِ): Far be it from Allah; an expression of absolute exoneration and astonishment at any fault.

The Interpretation:

In this profound scene, the king of Egypt gathers the women who had been present at the infamous gathering, including the wife of the powerful minister (Al-Aziz), to uncover the truth about the allegations against Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), peace be upon him. Addressing the women, the king asks: "What was your affair when you sought to seduce Yusuf and tempt him away from his chastity? Did you observe any wrongdoing or inclination from him?"

The women, overwhelmed by the purity they had witnessed, responded with a declaration of Allah's transcendence and Yusuf's innocence: "Far be it from Allah! We know of no evil or immorality against him." Their testimony was a powerful vindication of Yusuf's character—a man of such integrity that even those who had once attempted to ensnare him could not utter a single word against him.

At that decisive moment, when the truth could no longer be concealed, the wife of Al-Aziz stepped forward with a confession that shattered the web of lies: "Now the truth has become fully manifest! It was I who sought to seduce him, and he is indeed among the truthful." She admitted her guilt openly, acknowledging that Yusuf had resisted her advances and had spoken the truth from the very beginning.

This verse highlights the ultimate triumph of truth over falsehood. Despite the conspiracy and the false accusations leveled against Yusuf, Allah's wisdom prevailed, and the truth emerged in the most public and undeniable manner. The confession of the woman who had once been his accuser became a testimony to his innocence, and his patience and integrity were honored by the very people who had doubted him.

A Call to Reflection:

This story carries timeless lessons for every believer. It teaches us that truth, no matter how long it is suppressed, will always rise to the surface. Allah, the All-Knowing, protects His righteous servants and clears their names in ways they could never imagine. It also reminds us of the power of honesty and steadfastness in the face of temptation and falsehood. Just as Yusuf (peace be upon him) remained patient and pure, trusting in Allah's plan, we too must hold firm to our values, knowing that Allah never abandons those who strive for righteousness. The confession of the truth, even when it is difficult, is a sign of strength and a means of purification. Let us learn from this story to always speak the truth, defend the innocent, and place our complete trust in Allah, for He is the Best of Planners and the Most Merciful.

📜 Verse 49-53 — Yusuf

Then will come after that a year in which the people will be given rain and in which they will press [olives and grapes]."
And the king said, "Bring him to me." But when the messenger came to him, [Joseph] said, "Return to your master and ask him what is the case of the women who cut their hands. Indeed, my Lord is Knowing of their plan."
Said [the king to the women], "What was your condition when you sought to seduce Joseph?" They said, "Perfect is Allah! We know about him no evil." The wife of al-'Azeez said, "Now the truth has become evident. It was I who sought to seduce him, and indeed, he is of the truthful.
That is so al-'Azeez will know that I did not betray him in [his] absence and that Allah does not guide the plan of betrayers.
And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."
