Word Meanings:

  • آلَ لُوطٍ (Aal Lut): The household and followers of Prophet Lut (peace be upon him), primarily referring to him and his family.
  • الْمُرْسَلُونَ (Al-Mursalun): The messengers — here, the angels sent by Allah on a mission of punishment and deliverance.

Explanation of the Verse:

When the angels, sent by Allah in the form of handsome young men, arrived at the dwelling of Prophet Lut (peace be upon him), they came as honored guests. Their arrival was not a casual visit; it was a divine mission carrying both mercy and wrath. They came to deliver Lut’s family from the impending destruction and to execute Allah’s judgment upon a people who had transgressed all bounds of decency and morality.

This moment marks a turning point in the narrative of Lut’s mission. The angels reached his home, and their presence would soon test the patience, faith, and courage of this noble prophet. Lut, unaware of their true identity, saw them as strangers in a town steeped in corruption — a town whose inhabitants had made wickedness their habit and shamelessness their trade.

The verse subtly highlights the honor bestowed upon Lut: the angels of Allah, the most noble of creations, came directly to his house. This was a sign of Allah’s care for His righteous servant, even in the midst of a corrupt society. It reminds us that when a believer stands firm upon the truth, Allah never abandons them — He sends His help in ways they cannot imagine.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, consider how Allah singled out Lut and his family for salvation while the rest of his people faced ruin. This is a timeless lesson: righteousness is never wasted in the sight of Allah. Even when surrounded by evil, a believer’s home can become a sanctuary of mercy. Let this verse inspire you to be like Lut — steadfast in faith, protective of your family, and trusting that Allah’s help arrives at the perfect time, even when the world around you seems dark. The angels came to Lut when he needed them most, and so too will Allah’s support reach you in your moments of trial, if you remain patient and sincere.
