Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- "Siddeeq" (صِدِّيقًا): One who is extremely truthful and constantly confirms the truth — a person whose truthfulness in words, deeds, and belief is complete and unwavering.
- "Nabiyy" (نَّبِيًّا): A Prophet — a man chosen by Allah who receives divine revelation and is elevated in rank.
Explanation of the Verse:
O Messenger, Allah commands you to recite and convey to your people the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, as mentioned in this Qur'an — the Book revealed to you. Indeed, Ibrahim was a man of the highest degree of truthfulness. He was *siddeeq* — one who never spoke anything but the truth, who believed wholeheartedly in every command and sign of Allah, and whose entire life was a living testimony to honesty and sincerity. Moreover, he was a *Nabiyy* — a Prophet chosen by Allah, elevated above the ranks of ordinary people, and honored with divine revelation.
This verse invites us to reflect on the noble character of Ibrahim: his truthfulness was not merely in speech but in his very essence — he was truthful to Allah in his worship, truthful to himself in his intentions, and truthful to humanity in his call. His prophethood was a natural fruit of his unwavering honesty, for Allah does not bestow this great honor except upon those whose hearts are purified and whose souls are devoted to the truth.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder this: Allah Himself commands the Prophet ﷺ to mention Ibrahim in the Qur'an — not as a mere historical anecdote, but as an eternal lesson for all who seek guidance. If you aspire to be close to Allah, then let Ibrahim be your model. Truthfulness is the foundation upon which all noble qualities are built. A truthful heart attracts Allah's mercy, opens the doors of knowledge, and elevates a person to ranks unimaginable. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise" (Agreed upon). So, make truthfulness your constant companion — in your words, your actions, and your intentions — and you will find that Allah honors you just as He honored His beloved Ibrahim. Islam calls you to this beautiful quality, for it is the key to a life of peace, dignity, and eternal success.
