Surah Taha — Verse 135

Word Meanings:

• مُتَرَبِّصٌ (Mutarabiss): One who is waiting and watching for an outcome, anticipating what will happen.
• الصِّرَاطِ السَّوِيِّ (As-Sirat as-Sawiyy): The straight, level, and upright path — the path of truth and righteousness, free from deviation.
• اهْتَدَى (Ihtada): To be guided, to find and follow the right way after seeking it.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Prophet, say to those who reject the truth and mock the promise of Allah: "Each one of us — you and we — is waiting and watching for what Allah will decree." We, the believers, wait for Allah's help, victory, and the punishment of the disbelievers, while you wait for misfortune to strike us and for our mission to fail. So go ahead and wait — but know with certainty that the outcome belongs to Allah alone.

The day will surely come when Allah's command is fulfilled and the truth of every matter becomes clear. On that Day — and indeed even in this world — you will come to know, without any doubt, who truly walks upon the straight path that leads to salvation, and who has been rightly guided to the truth. Is it we or is it you? The proof will be manifest, and the distinction between the guided and the misguided will be undeniable.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: the waiting will not last forever, and the reckoning is certain. Allah does not leave His servants without guidance, nor does He let falsehood prevail over truth indefinitely. The believer is one who lives with certainty, knowing that the promise of Allah is true. So let this be an invitation to you, dear reader — examine the path you are on. Is it the straight path that leads to Allah's pleasure and eternal bliss, or a path of doubt and deviation? The time to choose is now, before the waiting ends and the truth becomes undeniable for every soul. Embrace the guidance of the Qur'an, for it is the light that illuminates the straight path, and there is no success except in following it.
