Key Words and Phrases:
- Zafir (زَفِيرٌ): A deep, harsh exhaling or groaning sound, the kind of painful breathing that comes from intense suffering and distress.

Explanation of the Verse:
This verse paints a harrowing picture of the state of the disbelievers and wrongdoers in the Hellfire. It tells us that for them, in that abode of torment, there is a *zafir* — a terrible, agonizing groan that escapes from their chests as they struggle to breathe under the weight of their punishment. It is a sound of utter despair and suffocating pain, a direct consequence of their denial of the truth in this worldly life.
Furthermore, they will be in a state where they cannot hear anything at all. This is not merely a physical deafness, but a sensory shutdown brought on by the sheer, overwhelming horror of their situation. The intensity of the Fire's raging, the crushing weight of their own agony, and the terrifying sights around them will completely overwhelm their senses, leaving them in a state of total isolation and despair. They are deprived of even the smallest comfort of hearing a voice or a sound that might offer a moment of relief, for even that is a mercy they have forfeited.
This verse serves as a profound and serious reminder for us all. It urges us to reflect deeply on our actions and choices in this life. The path of heedlessness and transgression leads to a reality that is beyond our imagination. But the door of repentance is open, and the mercy of Allah is vast. Let this description be a motivation for us to turn back to our Lord with sincerity, to seek His forgiveness, and to strive to live a life that is pleasing to Him. For the believers, the promise is entirely different: a life of eternal bliss, peace, and the joy of seeing their Lord. Let us choose the path that leads to that everlasting success, and let us never take the blessings of hearing, sight, and understanding for granted, for they are the very tools we have been given to seek the truth and act upon it.
