Word Meanings:

(Hushira): Gathered or assembled together.
(Yooza‘oon): They are restrained, kept in order, and driven forward in an organized manner—the first being held back until the last catches up, so that none fall out of line.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse paints a magnificent scene from the life of Prophet Sulayman (peace be upon him), a king whose power and authority were unmatched in human history. Allah gathered for him his mighty armies—comprising three distinct forces: the jinn, the humans, and the birds. These were not scattered or chaotic masses; rather, they were perfectly disciplined and organized. The word "yooza‘oon" indicates that they were marshaled and arranged in ranks, with officers ensuring that no one advanced ahead of the formation or lagged behind. Every group had its appointed place, and they moved as one cohesive, orderly force under his command.

This was a divine blessing and a sign of Allah’s favor upon Sulayman—a kingdom of such magnitude that even the unseen creatures of the jinn and the birds of the sky were subjugated to his will, all moving in perfect harmony. It demonstrates the greatness of a prophet who combined spiritual wisdom with worldly power, and it reminds us of the glory of Allah who granted him such dominion.

A Da‘wah Reflection:

Imagine the awe-inspiring sight of that army—jinn from the unseen realm, humans from every tribe, and birds soaring above—all united in perfect discipline under one leader. This scene invites us to reflect on the importance of order, unity, and obedience in our own lives. Just as Sulayman’s forces were organized and obedient to his command, so too should we, as believers, strive to submit ourselves to the command of Allah, the King of all kings. When we align our hearts, words, and deeds with His guidance, we too become part of a divine plan that is far greater than ourselves—an army of righteousness moving through life with purpose and harmony.

Moreover, this verse reminds us that true leadership is a trust from Allah. Sulayman did not use his power for arrogance or oppression; rather, he used it to establish justice and to call people to the worship of Allah alone. Let us learn from his example: whatever authority or abilities we possess—be it knowledge, wealth, or influence—should be used to serve Allah and benefit humanity, not for selfish gain. For the One who granted Sulayman such a magnificent kingdom is the same Lord who grants us our daily blessings, and He is always deserving of our gratitude and obedience.

📜 Verse 15-19 — An-Naml

And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah, who has favored us over many of His believing servants."
And Solomon inherited David. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty."
And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows.
Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not."
So [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants."
