Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yabda'u al-khalq: He originates creation, bringing it into existence from nothing, without any prior model or example.
- Yu'iduhu: He will restore it, bringing it back to life after death — the resurrection.
- Ilayhi turja'un: To Him alone you will be returned, for judgment and recompense.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah — alone, with no partner — is the One who originates all of creation. He brought every being into existence from absolute nothingness, and no one shares with Him in this act of creation. Then, after this life comes to an end and all creatures perish, He will restore creation once again, resurrecting every soul from its grave just as He originated it the first time. This second act of creation is just as easy for Him as the first — indeed, it is even easier, for whoever can create something from nothing can certainly bring it back after it has existed.
Then, after this resurrection, all of humanity — from the first to the last — will be returned to Him alone, not to any other. There, on the Day of Judgment, He will deal with each soul according to its deeds: the one who did good will be rewarded with goodness, and the one who did evil will be held accountable for his evil. This return is inevitable and certain, for Allah does not create anything in vain, nor does He leave His servants neglected.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse opens the door of hope and awakens the heart to the reality of our existence. If Allah was able to begin your creation from a drop of fluid that you were not even aware of, then His ability to bring you back after death is beyond doubt. So, dear reader, let this certainty fill your heart with tranquility: your life is not a random accident, and your death is not the end of the story. You are traveling toward a meeting with your Lord, where every deed — big or small — will be placed on the scale. Let this knowledge motivate you to live a life of purpose, drawing closer to Allah through obedience and good deeds, so that when you return to Him, you return with a heart that is at peace and a record that is pleasing. For He who began your creation with perfect wisdom will not let your end be without justice and mercy.
