Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Samāwāt (السماوات): The heavens; the celestial realms above us.
  • ʿAmad (عمد): Pillars or supports holding something up.
  • Rawāsī (رواسي): Firm, immovable mountains anchored in the earth.
  • Tamīda (تميد): To sway, shake, or become unstable.
  • Baththa (بثّ): To spread, scatter, or disperse abundantly.
  • Zawj karīm (زوج كريم): A noble, beneficial pair or species; in this context, every kind of plant that is beautiful, useful, and generous in its benefits.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this magnificent verse, Allah invites us to reflect on His perfect creation and boundless power. He begins by telling us that He created the heavens without any visible pillars—raised high above us, standing firm by His command alone, as we can plainly see. There are no physical supports holding them up; rather, His infinite power sustains them in perfect order, a sight we witness every day yet often take for granted.

Then, Allah turns our attention to the earth beneath our feet. He placed upon it firm, towering mountains as stabilizers, so that the earth does not shake and sway with you. These mountains act as pegs that keep the ground steady, ensuring a stable and peaceful life for all who dwell upon it. This is a profound mercy—imagine if the earth were constantly trembling; life would be impossible. Yet, by His wisdom, He made it secure.

Furthermore, He spread across the earth every kind of creature—countless species of animals, insects, and living beings, each with its own purpose and role in the delicate balance of life. This diversity is a sign of His creative genius and care for all that exists.

Finally, Allah mentions His life-giving mercy: He sends down rain from the sky, and through it, He causes the earth to sprout every noble, beautiful pair of plants—varied in color, shape, and benefit. These plants nourish humans and animals alike, providing food, medicine, and beauty. The word "karīm" (noble/generous) highlights how these plants are not only useful but also delightful to behold and abundant in their goodness.

This verse is a call to open our eyes and hearts. Every time you look up at the sky, walk on solid ground, see an animal, or enjoy a fruit, remember that this is not random—it is the deliberate, loving creation of Allah. He did all of this for you, so that you may live in comfort and reflect on His greatness. Let this awareness fill your heart with gratitude and draw you closer to Him. For the One who created all this with such perfection is surely worthy of your worship, your love, and your obedience.

📜 Verse 8-12 — Luqman

Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them are the Gardens of Pleasure.
Wherein they abide eternally; [it is] the promise of Allah [which is] truth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind.
This is the creation of Allah. So show Me what those other than Him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in clear error.
And We had certainly given Luqman wisdom [and said], "Be grateful to Allah." And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever denies [His favor] - then indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy.
