Word Meanings:

(Yudabbiru al-amr): He manages, arranges, and governs all affairs with perfect wisdom and precision.
(Ya‘ruju): Ascends, rises upward.
(Miqdāruhu): Its measure or duration.
(Mimmā ta‘uddūn): According to your own reckoning and calculation of time in this worldly life.

Explanation of the Verse:

This magnificent verse unveils a profound truth about the divine management of the universe. Allah, the Exalted, declares that He alone orchestrates every affair—from the highest heavens down to the depths of the earth. Nothing is left to chance or chaos; every breath, every rain drop, every star’s movement, and every human destiny is under His perfect command and control. He sends down His decrees, His revelation, and His provisions through the angels, who descend from the celestial realm to the earthly domain, carrying out His orders with absolute precision.

Then comes the awe-inspiring part: *"Then it ascends to Him on a Day whose measure is a thousand years of your counting."* The angels, along with the deeds and affairs of creation, ascend back to Allah—the Supreme Sovereign—on a day that, by human reckoning, would span a thousand years. Yet, for Allah, time is not a constraint; He is beyond time and space, and His power transcends all limitations. What takes a thousand years of human calculation is but an instant in His divine reality. This highlights both the vastness of creation and the incomprehensible majesty of the Creator, who manages all of this effortlessly.

Some scholars have noted that the distance between the heavens and the earth is a journey of five hundred years, making the round trip a thousand years—yet the angels traverse this in the blink of an eye by Allah’s command. This serves as a powerful reminder of Allah’s absolute sovereignty and His complete control over all dimensions of existence.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this verse. The same Allah who manages the affairs of the entire universe—from the tiniest atom to the grandest galaxy—is the One who hears your whisper, knows your struggles, and responds to your prayers. If He can orchestrate the rise and fall of every matter across a thousand-year span in an instant, then surely He can solve your problems, ease your hardships, and guide your path.

This verse invites you to place your complete trust in Allah. When life feels overwhelming, remember that the One who governs all things is fully aware of your situation. He is not distant or indifferent; He is closer to you than your own jugular vein. Turn to Him with a sincere heart, and you will find that His management of your affairs is far better than anything you could plan for yourself.

Islam teaches us that this life is but a fleeting moment in the grand scheme of eternity. The day that equals a thousand years reminds us of the Hereafter, where time takes on a different dimension. So, let this verse inspire you to live with purpose, to act with righteousness, and to seek closeness to the One who holds all affairs in His hands. Embrace the peace that comes from knowing that you are under the care of the Most Wise, the Most Merciful—and let that peace transform your heart and your life.

📜 Verse 3-7 — As-Sajdah

Or do they say, "He invented it"? Rather, it is the truth from your Lord, [O Muhammad], that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you [so] perhaps they will be guided.
It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days; then He established Himself above the Throne. You have not besides Him any protector or any intercessor; so will you not be reminded?
He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count.
That is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay.
