Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Haqq (الحق): The truth — referring to Islam, the Qur'an, and the divine guidance brought by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
- Al-Batil (الباطل): Falsehood — referring to disbelief, polytheism, and all that opposes the truth.
- Ma yubdi' wa ma yu'id (ما يبدئ وما يعيد): Literally "it does not initiate nor repeat" — an idiom meaning that falsehood has been utterly destroyed, leaving no trace or power to act, whether for the first time or again.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this verse, Allah commands His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to declare to the disbelievers who rejected his message and clung to their falsehood: "The truth has come!" This truth is the religion of Islam — its beliefs, laws, and guidance — sent down from Allah, the Lord of all worlds. With the arrival of this divine truth, falsehood has been vanquished and its authority has completely collapsed. Nothing remains of it — it cannot initiate any action, nor can it return or repeat its influence. Just as darkness dissipates when the light of dawn breaks, so too does falsehood vanish when the light of truth shines. The polytheists' idols, their superstitions, and their futile claims have all been rendered powerless, and the supremacy of Allah's word has been established.
This verse carries a profound message of hope and certainty for every believer. It reminds us that truth is not merely victorious — it is inherently triumphant, while falsehood is inherently doomed, no matter how strong or widespread it may appear at any given moment. The Qur'an and the Sunnah are the eternal truth that no force on earth can erase, and every form of falsehood — whether ancient or modern — will ultimately perish.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, this verse invites you to align yourself with the side of truth that never fails. When you embrace Islam and live by its teachings, you are standing with the force that Allah Himself supports. Falsehood may glitter temporarily, but its end is near, while the truth — the Qur'an and the guidance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) — remains firm and everlasting. Let this certainty fill your heart with tranquility and your life with purpose. Hold fast to the truth, spread it with wisdom and kindness, and trust that Allah's promise is true: falsehood will always fade, and the truth will always prevail.
