Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Rabbu-nā (رَبُّنَا): Our Lord, the One Who created, sustains, and governs all affairs.
  • Ya‘lam (يَعْلَمُ): He knows — an affirmation of Allah’s perfect, all-encompassing knowledge.
  • Innā ilaykum la-mursalūn (إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ): Indeed, we are surely sent to you — with the emphatic particle "inna" and the emphatic "lam" to stress the certainty of their mission.

Tafsir (Explanation):

When the people of the town rejected the messengers and accused them of lying, the messengers responded with a calm, dignified, and powerful affirmation of their truthfulness. They said: "Our Lord knows — and His knowledge is sufficient as a witness — that we are indeed sent to you." They did not argue or lose composure; instead, they anchored their claim in the ultimate reality: Allah’s knowledge. This was not merely a defensive statement; it was a declaration of their certainty and sincerity. They made it clear that their role was only to deliver the message clearly, and that guidance — opening the hearts to accept it — rests solely with Allah. They did not claim power over people’s hearts, nor did they promise worldly rewards; they simply fulfilled their duty with honesty and trust in their Lord.

Da‘wah Reflection:

This verse teaches us a profound lesson in steadfastness and sincerity. When you stand for truth, you do not need the approval of people — you need the knowledge and witness of Allah. The messengers’ reply is a model for every believer: when your sincerity is questioned, when your intentions are doubted, turn to Allah and rely on His knowledge. He sees your efforts, He knows your heart, and He is the Best of Witnesses. This also reminds us that our mission — like theirs — is to convey the truth with clarity and kindness, not to force outcomes. Success is in Allah’s hands, and our reward is with Him. So take heart: if you are upon the truth, Allah’s knowledge is your strongest proof, and His support is your greatest ally. Let this verse fill you with confidence and peace, for the One who sent you knows your mission, and He never abandons His sincere servants.

📜 Verse 14-18 — Yasin

When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened them with a third, and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you."
They said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not revealed a thing. You are only telling lies."
They said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you,
And we are not responsible except for clear notification."
They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment."
