Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Afamaa): "Is it not then..." – an interrogative particle used for affirmation and emphasis, drawing attention to a certain reality.
(Nahnu): "We" – referring to the believers in Paradise.
(Bimayyiteen): "Those who will die" – the state of being subject to death.

Tafsir (Interpretation):

This verse is part of the speech of a believer in Paradise, addressing his companion (a disbeliever he knew in the worldly life). The believer poses a rhetorical question, affirming a glorious truth: "Are we not those who will never die again?" The meaning is: We have already experienced death once in the worldly life, and now we are granted eternal life in Paradise—never to taste death again, nor to suffer any punishment. This is a statement of certainty, not doubt, meant to emphasize the everlasting bliss that Allah has bestowed upon the people of Paradise.

The believer continues this dialogue to remind his former companion of the reality they once denied—that the Hereafter is true, that resurrection is real, and that the ultimate success lies in Allah's mercy and reward. The question is posed in a tone of triumphant gratitude, as if to say: "Look at us now! We are alive forever, enjoying endless delights, while you—who mocked the promise of Allah—are now facing the consequences."

This verse carries a profound lesson for humanity: the life of this world is fleeting, and death is inevitable for every soul. But for the righteous believers, death is merely a transition to an eternal life of joy and peace in the presence of their Lord. The believer's words in Paradise are not just a statement of fact; they are a celebration of Allah's grace and a reminder that true success is not in worldly gains, but in securing a place in the everlasting Hereafter.

Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, imagine the moment when you stand in Paradise, looking back at the struggles and trials of this world, and you realize that death has been conquered for you—that you will never suffer, never grieve, and never end. This is the ultimate victory that Allah promises to those who believe and do righteous deeds. Let this verse inspire you to strive for that eternal bliss, to hold firm to your faith, and to live a life that leads you to the gardens of delight. For the believer, death is not an end; it is the door to an everlasting life of happiness. So, race towards the mercy of Allah, and let your heart be filled with hope and gratitude for the magnificent reward He has prepared for His righteous servants.

📜 Verse 56-60 — As-Saffat

He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me.
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].
Then, are we not to die
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"
Indeed, this is the great attainment.
