Surah Sad — Verse 64

Explanation of the Verse:

Allah, the Exalted, affirms in this verse that the quarrel and mutual reproach among the people of Hellfire — which He has described in the preceding verses — is an absolute and undeniable reality. There is no doubt about it whatsoever. On the Day of Judgment, the disbelievers and their leaders will engage in bitter arguments: the followers will blame their chiefs for leading them astray, and the chiefs will disown their followers, each side cursing the other. This is not a mere story or a metaphor; it is a certain truth that will inevitably occur. The verse serves as a stern warning that those who reject the truth in this world will face a reality of endless regret, blame, and conflict in the Hereafter — a punishment that is both physical and psychological, as their own words will testify against them.

Reflection and Counsel:

Dear reader, ponder deeply on this profound truth: the very people who once united in falsehood and arrogance will turn against one another in the Fire, each seeking to shift the blame. What a tragic end for those who spent their lives in disobedience! This verse calls upon us to reflect on our present relationships and alliances: are we surrounding ourselves with those who draw us closer to Allah, or with those who will become our accusers on that dreadful Day? The Qur’an does not merely inform us of this reality — it invites us to save ourselves and our loved ones from such a fate. The path of faith, humility, and repentance is open to every soul until the moment of death. Let this verse be a wake-up call: turn to your Lord now, mend your ways, and seek His mercy before the Day arrives when no argument will avail, and no excuse will be accepted. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful, and His door of repentance remains open for those who sincerely return to Him.
