Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • "Addoo" (أَدُّوا): Deliver, hand over, or surrender. It means to give something willingly and completely to its rightful owner.
  • "Ibad Allah" (عِبَادَ اللَّهِ): The servants of Allah. Here, it refers specifically to the Children of Israel (Bani Isra'il), whom Allah had chosen and favored with prophethood and scripture.
  • "Amin" (أَمِين): Trustworthy, faithful, and reliable. It describes a person who is completely honest in conveying a message without any alteration, addition, or omission.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse captures a powerful moment in the confrontation between Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) and the tyrant Pharaoh. Musa stood before Pharaoh and his court, delivering a clear and uncompromising message: "Deliver to me the servants of Allah" — meaning, release the Children of Israel from your oppression and let them go with me, so they may worship Allah alone, free from your bondage and persecution.

Musa did not ask for a favor or negotiate a compromise. He spoke with the authority of a prophet sent by the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He reminded Pharaoh that the Children of Israel were not his property or slaves; they were the servants of Allah, and no tyrant has the right to enslave those whom Allah has created free. This was a declaration of divine justice against human arrogance and oppression.

Then Musa added, "Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger." This statement was both a credential and a reassurance. He was not a rebel seeking power, nor a sorcerer seeking fame. He was a messenger from Allah, entrusted with a divine mission. His trustworthiness meant that he would convey exactly what Allah commanded him to say — no more, no less. He would not distort the message, nor would he use it for personal gain. His only aim was to guide people to the truth and free them from the chains of falsehood.

This verse teaches us a profound lesson: that true leadership and true freedom come from submitting to Allah alone. When a person or a nation worships Allah sincerely, no tyrant can truly enslave them. And when a caller to the truth is sincere and trustworthy, his words carry weight and his mission is blessed.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, look at the courage of Musa — he stood before the most powerful tyrant of his time and spoke the truth without fear. He did not soften the message to please Pharaoh, nor did he abandon his people to save himself. His strength came from his trust in Allah and his certainty that the truth will always prevail.

This is the essence of Islam: to be a servant of Allah alone, and to stand for justice even when it is difficult. The Qur'an calls us to this same spirit — to be honest, trustworthy, and bold in conveying the truth, just as Musa was. When you submit to Allah, you become truly free — free from the fear of creation, free from the chains of desire, and free from the oppression of tyrants.

Let this verse inspire you to be a person of integrity and courage. Speak the truth with kindness, stand for justice with wisdom, and trust that Allah is always with those who are sincere. The message of Musa is the message of all prophets: worship Allah alone, and be among those who are trustworthy in word and deed.

📜 Verse 16-20 — Ad-Dukhan

The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution.
And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger,
[Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger,"
And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority.
And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.
