Key Words and Phrases:

  • Yurīdūn (يُرِيدُونَ): They desire, wish, or long for.
  • An yakhrujū (أَن يَخْرُجُوا): To come out or escape.
  • Min al-Nār (مِنَ النَّارِ): From the Fire (of Hell).
  • Wa mā hum bi-khārijīn (وَمَا هُم بِخَارِجِينَ): And they will not be among those who come out.
  • ʿAdhābun muqīm (عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ): A permanent, everlasting, and unceasing punishment.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this profound verse, Allah Almighty describes the desperate state of the disbelievers who have been cast into the Hellfire. When they taste its unbearable heat, its scorching flames, and the terrifying horrors that surround them from every side, a single, overwhelming desire grips their hearts: the longing to escape, to break free from this place of torment. They yearn for an exit, any exit, from the Fire that engulfs them.

Yet, Allah, in His perfect justice and wisdom, declares that this wish will never be fulfilled. They will not come out of it, ever. There is no door of mercy open for them, no intercession that will benefit them, and no respite from their suffering. Their punishment is not temporary—it is not a trial that will end after a period of time. Rather, it is a *ʿadhābun muqīm*, a punishment that is permanent, constant, and eternal. It never ceases, never diminishes, and never lifts, not even for a single moment.

This verse serves as a stark and sobering reminder of the reality of the Hereafter. It strips away any illusion that Hell is a temporary state from which one can eventually escape through one's own will or effort. The decision of who enters the Fire and who remains therein is entirely in the Hands of Allah, and His decree is absolute and irrevocable.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear brothers and sisters in humanity, let this verse awaken our hearts from heedlessness. The desire to escape the Fire is a natural instinct, even for those who will dwell in it. But the time to act upon that desire is *now*, in this worldly life, not after death. We have been given a precious opportunity—the gift of life, the gift of faith, and the gift of repentance. The doors of Allah's mercy are wide open in this world. He calls us to Him, forgives our sins, and wipes away our misdeeds if we turn to Him sincerely.

Do not wait until you are in a place where escape is impossible. Do not wait until your wishes are futile and your pleas are unanswered. Today, you have the chance to choose your eternal destination. Embrace the path of guidance, hold fast to the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and strive to please your Lord. For the Fire is real, its torment is severe, and its duration is forever. But equally real is Paradise, with its gardens, rivers, and eternal bliss, prepared for those who believe and do righteous deeds. Choose wisely, for this choice will determine your eternity. May Allah protect us all from the Fire and grant us the highest ranks of Paradise.

📜 Verse 35-39 — Al-Maidah

O you who have believed, fear Allah and seek the means [of nearness] to Him and strive in His cause that you may succeed.
Indeed, those who disbelieve - if they should have all that is in the earth and the like of it with it by which to ransom themselves from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it will not be accepted from them, and for them is a painful punishment
They will wish to get out of the Fire, but never are they to emerge therefrom, and for them is an enduring punishment.
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they committed as a deterrent [punishment] from Allah. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, indeed, Allah will turn to him in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
