Word Meanings:

  • "وَأُزْلِفَتِ" — Brought near, drawn close.
  • "الْجَنَّةُ" — Paradise, the eternal Garden of bliss.
  • "لِلْمُتَّقِينَ" — For the God-conscious, those who are mindful of Allah and obedient to Him.
  • "غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ" — Not far away; at a close distance.

Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Judgment, when the scenes of reckoning unfold and hearts are filled with awe, Allah will bring Paradise near to the righteous — those who feared Him in their worldly life by fulfilling His commands and abstaining from His prohibitions. It will be drawn so close to them that they will see it with their own eyes, beholding its beauty, rivers, and delights from a place that is not distant at all. This drawing near is not merely physical; it is a profound honor and a source of immense joy, increasing their happiness and reassuring their hearts as they witness the reward that awaits them. The closeness of Paradise to the believers is a manifestation of Allah’s mercy and generosity — a reward for their patience, faith, and sincere devotion.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Imagine the moment when a believer, after a life of striving against temptations and holding firm to faith, sees Paradise approaching them — not as a distant hope, but as a visible, tangible reality. This verse fills the heart with hope and longing. It reminds us that every act of taqwa — every prayer, every fast, every kind word, every struggle to do good — is bringing Paradise closer to us, even now. Allah, in His infinite mercy, does not make His servants wait in uncertainty; He gives them the glad tidings of His reward. So let this verse inspire you to live a life of righteousness, for Paradise is not far from those who strive for it — and neither is Allah’s mercy far from those who seek it. Turn to Him today, and let your heart be at peace, knowing that the ultimate success belongs to the God-conscious.
