Word Meanings:

  • Al-Muqassimat (المُقَسِّمَات): The angels who distribute and divide matters by Allah’s command.
  • Amran (أَمْرًا): The divine decrees and commands—such as provisions, rains, and other affairs—that Allah has ordered to be carried out among His creation.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Allah Almighty swears by the angels who distribute and divide the affairs of His creation according to His precise command. These angels are entrusted with carrying out divine decrees—delivering provisions, sending down rain, recording deeds, and managing the affairs of the universe in perfect order and wisdom.

By swearing by these magnificent angels, Allah draws our attention to the grandeur of His creation and the meticulous system He has established. Just as the angels faithfully execute His commands without deviation, so too does the entire universe operate under His absolute will and power. This oath serves as a powerful reminder that nothing happens by chance; everything is measured, planned, and governed by the Most Wise.

The verse follows a series of oaths in the preceding verses—by the winds that scatter dust, the clouds that carry heavy rain, and the ships that glide with ease—all pointing to the signs of Allah’s power in the natural world. Now, the oath turns to the unseen realm of angels, bridging the visible and invisible worlds, and affirming that the One who manages all these affairs is certainly capable of fulfilling His promises.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, when you witness the wind stirring the earth, the clouds pouring down life-giving rain, the ships sailing smoothly across the seas, and the unseen angels carrying out their tasks—let your heart be filled with certainty that the Creator of all this is none other than Allah, the All-Powerful, the All-Wise. He who has perfected the management of the universe will never fail to keep His promise of resurrection and accountability.

This verse invites you to look beyond the surface of things and recognize the hand of Allah in every movement, every drop of rain, and every breath you take. It instills in the believer a profound sense of trust and reliance on Allah, knowing that He is in complete control of all affairs. Let this certainty bring peace to your heart and motivate you to live a life of obedience and gratitude, for the Day of Reckoning is real, and His justice is absolute. Embrace this truth, and let it transform your relationship with your Creator—for in His remembrance, hearts find true tranquility.
