Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yu'faku (يُؤْفَكُ): To be turned away, diverted, or perverted from something.
- Man ufika (مَنْ أُفِكَ): The one who has been turned away or diverted (i.e., the one who has been led astray from the truth).
Explanation of the Verse:
In this verse, Allah Almighty tells us that only those who are already turned away from the truth are diverted from believing in the Qur'an and in the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This is a profound statement about divine justice and human responsibility.
The verse indicates that being turned away from the Qur'an and the Messenger is not something that happens arbitrarily or unjustly. Rather, it is a consequence of one's own persistent rejection and arrogance towards the clear signs and proofs that Allah has presented. When a person continuously turns away from Allah's guidance, closes their eyes to His signs, and hardens their heart against the truth, Allah leaves them to their own devices — and they are consequently deprived of the ability to benefit from the guidance.
This is a manifestation of divine wisdom: the one who sincerely seeks the truth will find it, and the one who stubbornly rejects it will be left in their misguidance. The verse also carries a subtle warning — that the Qur'an is so clear and self-evident in its truth that only those who have been sealed from guidance due to their own obstinacy would turn away from it.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse is a beautiful reminder of the mercy and justice of Allah. It tells us that the door of guidance is wide open for every sincere seeker. Allah does not turn anyone away from the Qur'an unless that person has already turned away from Allah first. So if you find yourself drawn to the Qur'an, if your heart feels a pull towards its message, know that this is a sign of Allah's love for you and His desire to guide you. Do not ignore that inner call. Respond to it, and you will find that Allah will open for you doors of understanding and light that you never imagined possible. The Qur'an is not a book that excludes people — it is a light that only those who close their eyes fail to see. Open your heart, and let that light illuminate your path.
