📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Taziru (تَزِرُ): To carry or bear a burden.
  • Wazirah (وَازِرَةٌ): A soul that bears the burden of its own sins.
  • Wizr (وِزْر): Sin, guilt, or burden of wrongdoing.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse establishes a fundamental principle of divine justice: no soul shall bear the burden of another’s sins. Every person is solely responsible for their own actions, and no one can transfer their guilt to another, nor can anyone be held accountable for the misdeeds of someone else. This means that on the Day of Judgment, no one will be punished for the sins committed by others—neither a parent for a child, nor a leader for a follower, nor a companion for a friend. Each individual will face the consequences of their own deeds alone.

Furthermore, this principle extends to reward as well: a person will only attain the fruits of their own sincere efforts and good deeds. No one can earn blessings on behalf of another, and no one can claim credit for what they did not do. This is a profound message of personal responsibility and fairness, reminding us that our destiny lies in our own hands through the choices we make.

This teaching also carries a beautiful, reassuring message for humanity: Allah’s justice is perfect and absolute. No innocent person will ever be punished for another’s wrongdoing, and no one will be wronged in the slightest. It encourages us to focus on purifying our own hearts and actions, rather than being consumed by the faults of others. It also inspires us to strive sincerely in good deeds, knowing that every effort we make is seen and rewarded by Allah, and that we are the architects of our own eternal success.

As believers, this verse fills our hearts with hope and motivation. It calls us to take ownership of our spiritual journey, to repent sincerely for our own sins, and to race toward goodness—because the door of mercy is open, and every step we take toward Allah is counted for us alone. Let this truth liberate you from despair over past mistakes and empower you to build a bright future through faith and righteous action.
