Word Meanings:

(Sanafrughu): Literally means "We will be free" or "We will have time for." Here, it signifies turning full attention to something, not in the sense of being busy and then becoming free, but as a declaration of focused intent.
(Ath-Thaqalayn): The "Two Heavy Ones" or "Two Weighty Creatures" — referring to mankind (ins) and jinn, so called because they are the weighty inhabitants of the earth, both in life and in death, bearing the heavy responsibility of their deeds.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this powerful and awe-inspiring verse, Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) addresses all of creation — both humans and jinn — with a solemn and direct warning: "We will turn to you fully, O you two weighty ones." This is not a casual statement; it is a divine declaration that a day is coming when the Lord of the Worlds will settle all accounts with absolute justice.

The meaning here is that Allah will devote His complete attention to the reckoning and recompense of every soul — no one will be overlooked, no deed will be forgotten. The righteous will be rewarded with eternal bliss, and the wrongdoers will face the consequences of their actions. This is a promise from Allah, and His promise is true and certain.

It is crucial to understand that when Allah says "We will be free for you," it does not imply that He is ever occupied or distracted — for He is the One who manages all affairs simultaneously, and no matter occupies Him from another matter. Rather, this expression is a powerful rhetorical device to strike fear and reverence into the hearts of listeners, emphasizing the gravity of that Day when all excuses will cease, and every soul will stand before its Creator.

The term "thaqalayn" (the two weighty ones) is a beautiful and profound description. Humans and jinn are called "heavy" because they carry the weight of existence on earth — they are its inhabitants, its builders, and its test-takers. They are also heavy with the burden of their deeds, whether good or evil, and they will bear the weight of their choices on the Day of Judgment.

This verse serves as a wake-up call to every one of us. It reminds us that life is not a game without consequence, and that our time on this earth is a test. The One who created us, who sustains us, and who knows our innermost thoughts has promised to settle every matter with perfect justice. So let this verse be a motivation to reflect on our actions, to turn back to Allah in repentance, and to strive for what pleases Him. For on that Day, when Allah "turns to us," the only thing that will benefit us is our faith and our righteous deeds.

Indeed, this is a call of mercy as much as it is a warning — for Allah does not wish to punish His servants, but He has given us this life as an opportunity to seek His forgiveness and earn His pleasure. Let us not be among those who are heedless, but rather among those who prepare for that meeting with their Lord, with hearts full of hope and deeds full of sincerity.

📜 Verse 29-33 — Ar-Rahman

Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is bringing about a matter.
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
We will attend to you, O prominent beings.
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah].
