Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Takhluqoonahu (تَخْلُقُونَهُ): Do you create it — i.e., transform the sperm-drop into a living human being?
- Al-Khaliqoon (الْخَالِقُونَ): The Creators — the ones who alone possess the power to bring something into existence from nothing and to shape it.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the Exalted, addresses humanity with a profound and humbling question: "Is it you who create this sperm-drop that is emitted into the wombs of women, turning it into a living, breathing human being — or are We the Creators?"
The verse invites every person to reflect deeply on the miracle of human reproduction. A tiny, seemingly insignificant drop of fluid — which a person has no conscious control over after its emission — develops through stages into a fully formed human with eyes, ears, a heart, a mind, and a soul. Who orchestrates this incredible transformation? Who gives it life, shape, and destiny? Certainly not the human being, who is merely a vessel in this process, unaware of what is happening inside the womb.
This rhetorical question leaves no room for doubt: it is Allah alone who creates, fashions, and perfects. The human being contributes nothing but the raw material, and even that is a gift from Allah. The verse thus strips away any illusion of self-sufficiency or pride, reminding us that our very existence is a continuous act of divine creation.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and ponder this for a moment. Every single human being who has ever lived — from the first prophet to the last person on Earth — began as a drop of fluid, unnoticed and weak. Yet, from that humble beginning, Allah fashioned beings of extraordinary complexity, capable of thought, love, worship, and achievement. Is this not the clearest evidence of His power and wisdom?
This verse is not merely a statement of fact; it is an invitation to gratitude and humility. When you realize that your life, your health, your children, and your very breath are all products of Allah’s mercy and creative power, your heart naturally fills with love for Him and awe of His majesty. It also serves as a warning: if you cannot create even a single cell from that drop, then how can you deny the One who created you? How can you turn away from His guidance or worship anything other than Him?
Let this reflection strengthen your faith and draw you closer to your Creator. He who perfected your creation from a humble drop will surely not abandon you. He who gave you life will also resurrect you after death — for the One who can create from nothing is certainly able to bring you back to life. So submit to Him with sincerity, and let your heart find peace in knowing that you are in the hands of the Best of Creators.
