Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- "Wa ākharīna minhum" — "And others from among them" — referring to another group of people connected to the same origin or community.
- "Lammā yalḥaqū bihim" — "Who have not yet joined them" — meaning they have not yet come into existence or arrived at that time; they will come later.
- "Al-ʿAzīz" — The Almighty, the All-Powerful, the One who prevails over all things and cannot be overcome.
- "Al-Ḥakīm" — The All-Wise, the One who places everything in its perfect and proper place in His creation, His commands, and His decree.
The Interpretation:
This noble verse continues to describe the immense blessing of Allah upon humanity through the sending of His final Messenger, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). After mentioning that Allah raised a Messenger from among the unlettered Arabs — those who could neither read nor write and had no prior scripture — the verse now adds that this same Messenger was also sent to "others from among them who have not yet joined them."
This refers to future generations of Muslims — from the Arabs and from all of humanity — who would come after the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), right up until the Day of Judgment. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was not sent only to his own people in his own time; rather, his message is universal and eternal, reaching every soul that will ever live until the end of time. This is a profound mercy from Allah, for it means that every person who embraces Islam — in any land, at any time — is included in this divine address and shares in the honor of being a recipient of this final revelation.
The verse then closes with two of Allah's most beautiful attributes: "And He is the Almighty, the All-Wise." He is the Almighty — nothing can prevent His will, and no force can stand against His decree. He is the All-Wise — He chose this Messenger, this message, and this timing with perfect wisdom, knowing what His servants need and what will bring them success in this life and the next.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this magnificent verse. You — yes, you reading these words right now — are among those "others" mentioned in this verse! The Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent to you, and the Quran was revealed for your guidance. This is not a historical event of the past; it is a living reality that embraces you today. Allah knew you would exist, and He sent His Messenger for your sake.
So what is your response to this immense honor? The greatest gratitude you can show is to receive this message with an open heart, to learn it, to live by it, and to share it with others. The door of guidance is open, and the Messenger (peace be upon him) is your intercessor and your guide. Do not let this opportunity pass you by. Embrace the light of Islam, and you will find peace in this world and eternal bliss in the Hereafter. For Allah — the Almighty, the All-Wise — has prepared for His believing servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can imagine.
