Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • حَقِيقٌ: Worthy, deserving, or bound by duty.
  • عَلَى: Here it means "worthy of" or "obliged to."
  • بِبَيِّنَةٍ: With a clear, conclusive proof or evidence.
  • فَأَرْسِلْ: So send (release, let go).
  • بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ: The Children of Israel (the descendants of Prophet Ya'qub, peace be upon him).

Tafsir (Explanation):

Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) stood before Pharaoh with a heart full of certainty and a tongue bound to truth. He declared: "It is my duty and my very nature that I never attribute anything to Allah except the absolute truth." This was not a mere claim—it was a solemn oath from a prophet who knew that his entire mission rested on honesty, for any lie about Allah would destroy the very foundation of his message.

Musa then presented the ultimate proof: "I have come to you with a clear, undeniable sign from your Lord." This sign was the miraculous staff that turned into a serpent and his radiant white hand—miracles that defied human capability and testified to his prophethood. These were not tricks or illusions; they were divine evidences that left no room for doubt.

Finally, he made his demand: "So release the Children of Israel with me." The Israelites were enslaved, humiliated, and oppressed under Pharaoh's tyranny. Musa asked for their freedom so they could worship Allah freely and return to their sacred land. This was not a political rebellion but a call for justice and the restoration of human dignity.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse teaches us the essence of prophetic character: absolute truthfulness. When we speak about Allah—His names, His attributes, His commands—we must be meticulous, for He is too great to be described falsely. Imagine the courage of Musa: standing before the most powerful tyrant of his time, armed only with truth and divine proof. He did not flatter Pharaoh, nor did he compromise his message. He spoke with clarity and confidence because he knew Allah was with him.

For us today, this verse is a reminder that truth is our shield. When we call people to Islam, we must do so with knowledge, sincerity, and clear evidence—not with exaggeration or falsehood. And just as Musa demanded freedom for the oppressed, we too must stand for justice, freeing people from the chains of ignorance, sin, and false worship, guiding them to the light of Allah. Let this verse inspire you to be a bearer of truth, a defender of justice, and a caller to the path of Allah with wisdom and beautiful preaching.
