Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Dhālika (ذَٰلِكَ): Refers to Allah, the One who created and perfected all things.
  • Bi-Qādir (بِقَادِرٍ): Fully capable, able to do all things without any limitation.
  • Yuḥyī al-Mawtā (يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى): To bring the dead back to life, resurrecting them for the Hereafter.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse comes as a powerful rhetorical question, posed by Allah to the denier of the Resurrection. After listing the stages of human creation—from a weak drop of sperm, to a clinging clot, to a formed and perfected being, and then making from it the two sexes, male and female—Allah asks: "Is not He who did all of this capable of bringing the dead back to life?"

The answer is an emphatic "Yes, indeed!" The very same Divine Power that created you from nothing, that transformed a humble drop into a living, breathing human being with perfect form, is certainly able to recreate you after death. The One who originated creation is more than able to repeat it. This is a direct logical proof of the Hereafter: if Allah could create you the first time, then resurrecting you is even easier.

So, O human being who doubts the Day of Judgment, reflect on your own origin! You were once nothing, then you became a living being. The One who did that is not incapable of doing it again. He will bring you back to life to account for your deeds—rewarding the righteous with Paradise and punishing the wicked with Hellfire.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a call to awaken the heart and mind. It invites you to look at yourself—your creation, your form, your very existence—as a living proof of Allah's infinite power. If you truly understand that your Lord created you from a mere drop and perfected you, then you will never despair of His mercy, nor will you ever doubt His promise. This is the essence of faith: trusting that the One who gave you life the first time will surely bring you back to life again. So, prepare for that Day, for it is closer than you think. Let this certainty fill your heart with hope and your deeds with sincerity, for your Lord is indeed Capable of all things—and His promise is true.
