Word Meanings:

  • Mu'jizīn (مُعْجِزِينَ): Those who can escape or frustrate Allah's power; unable to be overtaken or defeated.
  • Awliyā' (أَوْلِيَاء): Protectors, allies, or supporters who can intercede or defend against Allah's punishment.
  • Yudā'af (يُضَاعَف): Multiplied or doubled; intensified punishment.
  • Yastatī'ūn al-sam' (يَسْتَطِيعُونَ السَّمْع): Able to hear with acceptance and benefit; listening to the truth with an open heart.
  • Yubṣirūn (يُبْصِرُونَ): Seeing with insight and guidance; perceiving Allah's signs in creation.

Explanation of the Verse:

These disbelievers, who rejected the truth and led others astray, could never escape Allah's power on earth. No matter how far they ran or how hard they tried to evade His decree, they could not frustrate His will. Nor did they have any protectors besides Allah who could shield them from His punishment when it came. Their fate was sealed, and their punishment was merely delayed until the Day of Judgment.

On that Day, their torment will be doubled—multiplied intensely—because of their persistent wrongdoing and their active role in leading others away from the path of Allah. They not only strayed themselves but also blocked others from the way of guidance, and so their punishment reflects the magnitude of their sin.

The verse then reveals the root cause of their ruin: they could not hear the truth with acceptance, nor could they see Allah's signs with insight. Their hearts were sealed, their ears were blocked, and their eyes were veiled—not because they lacked the physical faculties, but because their arrogance, stubbornness, and hatred of the truth made them incapable of benefiting from what they heard and saw. They were so consumed by their rejection that even the clearest signs and the most profound words left no impression on their souls.

A Call to Reflection:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul. The disbelievers' tragedy was not that they were ignorant—they heard the Quran and saw the miracles—but that they refused to listen with humility and look with sincerity. How many of us today hear the words of Allah but remain unmoved? How many of us see the wonders of creation—the sky, the mountains, the oceans, the intricate design of our own bodies—yet fail to recognize the Hand of their Creator?

The door of guidance is open to all who approach it with a sincere heart. Allah does not force anyone to believe, but He has placed the signs of His existence and mercy everywhere, and He has sent His final revelation as a clear guide. The one who truly listens with the ears of the heart and sees with the eyes of the soul will find the truth undeniable.

Do not be like those who were given every chance yet chose blindness. Open your heart today, let the Quran speak to you, and let the universe around you testify to its Creator. The path to Allah is not difficult for those who seek it sincerely—it is only those who turn away who find it impossible. And remember, Allah's mercy is vast, and His door of repentance is open until the very last moment. Do not delay your return to Him, for no one knows when the final hour will come.

📜 Verse 18-22 — Hud

And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allah? Those will be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord." Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers.
Who averted [people] from the way of Allah and sought to make it [seem] deviant while they, concerning the Hereafter, were disbelievers.
Those were not causing failure [to Allah] on earth, nor did they have besides Allah any protectors. For them the punishment will be multiplied. They were not able to hear, nor did they see.
Those are the ones who will have lost themselves, and lost from them is what they used to invent.
Assuredly, it is they in the Hereafter who will be the greatest losers.
