Explanation of the Verse:
When the angels delivered the glad tidings of a son to Sarah—the wife of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him)—she was overtaken by astonishment, wondering how she could bear a child in her old age, especially since her husband was also advanced in years. At that moment, the angels gently corrected her surprise, saying: "Do you wonder at the decree of Allah?" They reminded her that nothing is impossible for Allah, for His power transcends all causes and natural laws. Then they extended a beautiful supplication to her and her household: "The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, O people of the house." This was a special honor conferred upon the family of Ibrahim, signifying their elevated status as carriers of prophethood and divine favor. The angels concluded by affirming that Allah is Hamid—praiseworthy in every aspect of His being, for all His actions are filled with wisdom and perfection—and Majid—possessing infinite glory and majesty, far beyond what human minds can fully comprehend.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: when we witness the wonders of Allah's creation or receive His favors, we should never limit His power by our human understanding. The angels' gentle rebuke to Sarah is a timeless reminder that Allah's mercy and blessings are boundless, and His ability to fulfill His promises is absolute. Just as He blessed the family of Ibrahim despite their old age, He can transform our hopeless situations into moments of divine grace. Let this verse fill your heart with hope and trust in Allah, for He is indeed the Most Praiseworthy, whose blessings never cease, and the Most Glorious, whose majesty knows no end. When you face what seems impossible, remember that the same Allah who granted a child to a barren woman and an aged man is fully capable of answering your prayers, opening doors you never imagined, and showering you with mercies you never expected. So turn to Him with confidence, for His mercy encompasses all things, and His blessings are reserved for those who place their trust in Him.
