Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Fākhruj" (فاخرج): "Then get out" or "leave" — a divine command of expulsion.
- "Min'hā" (منها): "From it" — referring to Paradise (Jannah).
- "Rajīm" (رَجِيمٌ): "Accursed," "expelled," or "pelted with stones" — meaning one who is driven away from all good and mercy, and who is pursued by divine curse.
Explanation of the Verse:
After Iblis (Satan) refused to prostrate to Adam, displaying arrogance and disobedience, Allah addressed him with a decisive and severe command: "Then get out from it (Paradise), for indeed you are Rajīm." This means: leave this blessed abode immediately, for you are now cast out, rejected, and driven away from every form of goodness, mercy, and divine favor. You are no longer worthy of residing in the pure and holy environment of Paradise. The word "Rajīm" carries a profound meaning: it signifies being pelted and stoned, as if the mercy of Allah is hurled away from you, and you are pursued by curse and alienation until the Day when all of humanity is resurrected for judgment. This expulsion was not merely physical but spiritual and eternal in its consequence — a permanent separation from the grace of Allah, unless one repents and seeks His forgiveness, though for Iblis, his fate was sealed by his own choice of pride and defiance.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a powerful reminder of the consequences of arrogance and disobedience. Iblis was once a devoted worshipper, elevated among the angels, yet his pride led him to reject a direct command of Allah, and he was cast out of Paradise forever. How easy it is for a person to lose everything through a single moment of haughtiness! Yet, how merciful is Allah that He has kept the door of repentance open for the children of Adam — unlike Iblis, we can always turn back to our Lord, seek His forgiveness, and be restored to His favor. Let this verse inspire you to humble yourself before Allah, to obey His commands with sincerity, and to never let pride or envy lead you astray. For the one who submits to Allah in humility will be raised in honor, while the one who rebels in arrogance will be cast down, just as Iblis was. Embrace the path of obedience, and you will find peace in this life and eternal bliss in the Hereafter.
