Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Ajal" (أَجَلًا): A fixed, appointed term or time — here referring to the lifespan decreed for them and the Day of Resurrection.
- "Kufoor" (كُفُورًا): Utter ingratitude and denial — stubborn rejection of the truth despite its clarity.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Do these deniers of the Resurrection not see and reflect? The very God who created the heavens and the earth — in their immense vastness, towering strength, and perfect order — is surely able to create the likes of them, human beings who are small, weak, and fragile in comparison. If He could bring into existence such colossal universes from nothing, then recreating humans after their death is far easier and well within His infinite power.
Moreover, Allah has already set for them a fixed term — a determined lifespan in this world that cannot be delayed or advanced, and an appointed time for their resurrection and reckoning about which there is no doubt whatsoever. It will certainly come to pass. Yet, despite all these clear signs and undeniable proofs, the wrongdoers — those who persist in injustice and oppression — refuse nothing but outright denial, turning away in stubborn ingratitude and rejecting the truth out of sheer arrogance and obstinacy.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
O beloved reader, pause for a moment and look around you. The heavens above, with their countless stars and galaxies, and the earth beneath your feet, with its mountains, oceans, and all living creatures — every single one of these is a living testimony to the boundless power of Allah. The One who created all of this with a single command, "Be," and it is — how could He ever be incapable of bringing you back to life after death?
This verse is a gentle yet powerful reminder that the Resurrection is not a matter of doubt or speculation; it is an absolute certainty. Your Lord has decreed a time for everything, and His promise is true. So do not be like those who saw the truth clearly yet turned away in denial. Instead, open your heart to faith, submit to your Creator with humility, and let the signs of His power draw you closer to Him. For the One who gave you life the first time is fully capable of giving you life again — and He has prepared for His believing servants a reward beyond imagination, and for the deniers a consequence they cannot escape. Embrace this truth today, and let it transform your life into one of gratitude, obedience, and hope in the mercy of your Lord.
