Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Rufatan (رُفَاتًا): Crumbled, fragmented particles of bones and remains that have disintegrated into dust.
- Khalqan Jadīdan (خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا): A new creation, a fresh form of existence after complete decay.
Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse reveals the ultimate justice of Allah: the punishment described for the disbelievers is not arbitrary or unjust—it is the precise and fitting consequence of their own choices. They rejected the clear signs of Allah—the verses of the Qur'an, the miracles of the messengers, and the undeniable evidence of Allah's power in the universe around them.
Their crime was twofold. First, they denied the truth that was presented to them with clarity and proof. Second, they mocked the very concept of resurrection, saying with scorn and disbelief: "What? When we have died and become nothing but dry, crumbling bones and scattered dust—are we truly going to be raised again as a new creation?" They said this not as a genuine question seeking answers, but as a statement of arrogant denial, thinking it impossible that Allah could bring life back to what has completely decayed.
Yet, in their mockery lies a profound lesson for every human being. Look at the world around you: the earth that appears dead and barren in winter bursts forth with vibrant life in spring. The One who created you from nothing in the first place—when you did not exist at all—is surely able to recreate you after death. The first creation is the greater proof; if He could bring you into existence from a drop of fluid, then bringing you back from dust is even easier for His infinite power.
Dear reader, do not fall into the same trap as those who denied. The resurrection is not a matter of possibility but of certainty—it is the moment when every soul will stand before its Lord and see the results of its deeds. Those who believed and did righteous deeds will be honored with eternal bliss, while those who denied and persisted in arrogance will face the consequence they once mocked. Let this verse be a wake-up call: your bones, your very dust, are not lost to Allah. He knows every particle of your being, and He will gather you on a Day that is inevitable. Do not let the whispers of doubt lead you to ruin—embrace the truth while there is still time, and let your faith in the Hereafter transform how you live today.
