Key Words and Phrases:

(If only they knew): A conditional expression indicating that if the disbelievers truly realized the reality of what awaits them, they would never persist in their denial.
(They cannot ward off/repel): They will be utterly powerless to push away or defend against.
(The Fire from their faces): The Fire will engulf them from the front, scorching their faces — the most honored part of a human being.
(Nor from their backs): The Fire will also consume them from behind, leaving no escape and no side of protection.
(And they will not be helped): No one will come to their aid — no ally, no intercessor, no power — to save them from this torment.

Explanation of the Verse:

If only those who disbelieve — those who mock the promise of resurrection and hasten the punishment out of arrogance and denial — could truly comprehend what awaits them on the Day when the Fire will surround them completely! On that Day, they will not be able to push the Fire away from their faces, nor from their backs. It will besiege them from every direction, leaving no part of their bodies safe from its scorching heat. And in that moment of utter helplessness, they will find no supporter, no protector, and no savior to rescue them from the punishment.

Had they truly known this reality with certainty, they would never have persisted in their disbelief, nor would they have mockingly asked: "When will this promise come to pass?" They would have hastened to faith and repentance instead of hastening to deny and ridicule.

This verse serves as a profound wake-up call — a glimpse into the terrifying reality that awaits those who reject the truth. It strips away every illusion of power and self-sufficiency, reminding us that on that Day, all worldly strength, wealth, and status will amount to nothing. The Fire will surround them, and no one — neither the idols they worshipped, nor the leaders they followed, nor the armies they trusted — will be able to shield them even for a single moment.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, this verse is not merely a warning — it is an invitation. An invitation to open your heart to the truth before that Day arrives, when no amount of regret will change your fate. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has sent you this message now, while you still have the opportunity to turn to Him, to seek His forgiveness, and to embrace the path of guidance.

Imagine standing on that Day, surrounded by Fire from every side, with no one to help you. But imagine the alternative: standing before your Lord with a heart full of faith, having followed His messengers and lived a life of righteousness, receiving His mercy and entering His eternal Paradise.

The choice is yours, and the time is now. Do not be like those who waited until it was too late. Embrace the truth, submit to your Creator, and taste the sweetness of faith that brings peace in this life and salvation in the next. May Allah guide us all to the straight path.

📜 Verse 37-41 — Al-Anbiya

Man was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not impatiently urge Me.
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"
If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...
Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
