Explanation of the Verse:
In this noble verse, Allah Almighty tells us about His Prophet Nuh (Noah), peace be upon him, and how He granted him victory and protection. After Nuh had called his people to worship Allah alone for centuries, enduring their mockery, rejection, and harm, Allah came to his aid. He shielded him from the wicked schemes of those who denied His clear signs and miracles — the very signs that proved Nuh’s truthfulness and his message.
Allah describes these people as "a people of evil" — meaning they were steeped in corruption, transgression, and stubborn arrogance. They combined two terrible qualities: they rejected the truth that came to them, and they persisted in wickedness and wrongdoing. Because of this, Allah’s decree of destruction was justly carried out — He drowned them all, every single one of them, in the great flood. Not a single disbeliever remained, while Nuh and the believers were saved in the ark by Allah’s mercy and power.
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: Allah never abandons His righteous servants. When they face hardship, rejection, or persecution for His sake, His help is near. The enemies of truth may seem strong for a time, but their end is destruction, while the believers’ end is victory and safety. Reflect on how Allah turned the tide for Nuh — after centuries of patience, He made the very water that was a source of life into a means of punishment for the disbelievers, and a means of salvation for the believers.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, let this story fill your heart with certainty and hope. If you are striving to follow the truth and facing opposition, know that Allah sees your struggle and will never let it go to waste. The same Allah who saved Nuh and drowned his enemies is alive and capable today. Hold firm to your faith, be patient as Nuh was patient, and trust in Allah’s promise: "Indeed, the party of Allah — they will be the victorious" (Al-Mujadila: 22). And let this verse also be a warning — that rejecting Allah’s signs and persisting in evil leads only to ruin, while embracing faith and righteousness leads to eternal success. May Allah make us among those who hear the truth and follow the best of it, and may He protect us from the fate of those who denied His signs.
