- تَلْقَفُ (Talqafu): It swallows or devours swiftly and greedily.

Explanation of the Verse:
When Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) cast down his staff by Allah’s command and permission, it transformed instantly into a massive, living serpent. That serpent began to swiftly devour all the false illusions and deceptive tricks that the magicians of Pharaoh had conjured — their ropes and staffs that appeared to move like snakes were nothing but fabricated mirages, and the true serpent of Musa consumed them all, leaving nothing behind.
This was a decisive moment of divine truth overwhelming falsehood. The magicians had spent their lives perfecting the art of illusion, yet in a single moment, the power of the Creator — who is the Lord of all realities — rendered their entire craft worthless. The staff of Musa, a simple piece of wood, became a living proof that the One who created the universe can transform anything He wills, and that His power supersedes all human trickery and deception.
This verse teaches us a profound lesson: no matter how elaborate, convincing, or sophisticated falsehood may appear, the truth of Allah will always prevail. The magicians had prepared their tricks for years, but Allah’s command came in an instant. It reminds every believer that when we place our trust in Allah and stand firm upon His path, He will grant us victory over every form of falsehood — whether it is the deception of sorcerers, the plots of tyrants, or the whispers of Shaytan.
For the believer, this scene is a source of immense hope and reassurance. It shows that Allah never abandons His righteous servants, and that the battle between truth and falsehood — though it may seem daunting — is always decided in favor of truth. Just as Musa’s staff swallowed every illusion, so too will the light of faith swallow every darkness, and the guidance of the Qur’an will overcome every doubt and confusion.
Let this verse strengthen your heart: if you are upon the truth, then be certain that Allah’s help is near, and that no amount of worldly deception can stand before His might. Hold fast to your faith, and watch how Allah turns the impossible into victory, just as He turned a staff into a miracle that silenced every falsehood.
