Tafsir (Explanation):
O people, reflect on this profound truth: everything you have been given in this life—whether wealth, children, status, health, or any worldly possession—is nothing more than a temporary provision and a fleeting adornment of this earthly existence. It is like a flower that blooms for a moment and then withers, or a mirage that appears as water but vanishes upon approach. These things are meant to be enjoyed for a short while, but they are not the ultimate goal, nor do they last.
In contrast, what Allah has prepared for His obedient servants—the everlasting rewards of Paradise, His pleasure, and His eternal mercy—is far better in quality and infinitely more enduring. The worldly pleasures are finite, limited, and mixed with pain and loss, while the rewards of the Hereafter are pure, complete, and never-ending. They do not diminish with time, nor do they bring any sorrow or regret.
So, will you not use your intellect? Will you not let your reason guide you to prefer what is everlasting over what is temporary? A wise person does not trade an eternal treasure for a fleeting trinket. The mind that truly reflects cannot fail to see that the Hereafter is the real life, and this world is merely a passing shadow.
Let this verse awaken your heart, dear reader. Allah is not asking you to abandon the world entirely, but to recognize its true value and not let it deceive you. Use the blessings He has given you as a means to reach what is better and more lasting. Let your intelligence lead you to faith, and let your faith lead you to success in both worlds. The choice is yours—will you be among those who understand?
