Explanation of the Verse:
When the servants of Pharaoh brought the infant Moses (peace be upon him) from the river—after his mother had placed him in the ark by divine inspiration—Pharaoh's instinct, driven by his tyrannical paranoia, was to order the child's execution. He feared that this boy, whom his astrologers and soothsayers had warned about, might be the one to threaten his kingdom.
But at that critical moment, Allah—the Supreme Disposer of all affairs—placed words of wisdom and compassion on the tongue of Asiyah, the wife of Pharaoh. She looked at the helpless baby, and her heart was filled with tenderness and divine light. She turned to Pharaoh and said: "This child is a comfort to my eyes and yours. Do not kill him. Perhaps he will bring us benefit, or we may adopt him as our own son."
Her words were gentle yet persuasive, calming Pharaoh's fury and saving the infant from certain death. And so, the baby was spared—not because of Pharaoh's mercy, but because Allah had decreed that His chosen prophet would be raised in the very palace of his greatest enemy. As the verse concludes: "And they did not perceive"—they had no idea that this very child, whom they were sheltering and nurturing, would one day be the instrument of their downfall and the destroyer of their tyranny.
This is one of the most profound demonstrations of Allah's absolute power and wisdom. He placed His beloved prophet in the lion's den, yet protected him under the wings of His care. The very woman who saved him—Asiyah—would later become one of the greatest believers in history, and her faith would be praised by Allah Himself in the Qur'an as an example for all believers. Meanwhile, Pharaoh, who unknowingly raised the one who would challenge his false divinity, remained blind to the truth until his final moments.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Beloved reader, ponder deeply upon this scene. How often do we see events unfold in ways we cannot comprehend, only to later realize that Allah was weaving a tapestry of wisdom far beyond our limited vision? The enemies of truth may plot and scheme, but the command belongs entirely to Allah. He protects His righteous servants in ways they never imagine, and He turns the plans of tyrants into means of their own destruction.
This story also teaches us the power of a single word of truth spoken at the right moment. Asiyah's intervention was not a grand act of revolution—it was a simple, heartfelt plea to spare an innocent life. Yet through it, Allah changed the course of history. Never underestimate the impact of your words and actions, no matter how small they seem. A kind word, a gesture of mercy, or a moment of courage can be the very means through which Allah brings about His divine plan.
And let us not forget the beautiful irony: the palace of Pharaoh, the self-proclaimed god, became the nursery of the very prophet who would declare, "I am the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds." Allah's power is limitless, and His protection over His believers is absolute. So place your trust in Him, for He is the Best of Planners, and His wisdom encompasses all things.
