Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Yarjū (يَرْجُو): Hopes for, expects with certainty, and earnestly desires.
  • Liqā’ Allah (لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ): The meeting with Allah — which includes the resurrection, standing before Him, and receiving His reward or justice.
  • Ajal Allah (أَجَلَ اللَّهِ): The appointed time set by Allah — specifically, the fixed term for the Day of Judgment and the recompense.
  • Lātin (لَآتٍ): Surely coming, inevitably approaching, and certain to occur.
  • Al-Samī‘ (السَّمِيعُ): The All-Hearing — He hears every word, whether spoken aloud or whispered in the heart.
  • Al-‘Alīm (الْعَلِيمُ): The All-Knowing — He knows every deed, thought, and intention, nothing escapes His knowledge.

Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse addresses every soul that holds hope in meeting Allah and yearns for His reward. It declares that whoever truly hopes for that meeting — longing for His mercy, fearing His account, and anticipating His justice — must know with absolute certainty that the appointed time set by Allah for this meeting is inevitably coming. It is not a distant fantasy or an uncertain promise; it is a fixed reality that will undoubtedly arrive.

The verse then reinforces this certainty by describing Allah as Al-Samī‘ (the All-Hearing) and Al-‘Alīm (the All-Knowing). He hears all that His servants utter — every supplication, every confession, every word of gratitude or complaint. And He knows all that they do — every hidden act, every secret intention, every silent struggle. Nothing is hidden from Him, and He will bring every soul to account with perfect justice and wisdom.

This verse is a call to transform hope into action. True hope in meeting Allah is not mere wishful thinking; it is a hope that purifies the heart, disciplines the soul, and drives a person to live righteously, knowing that the meeting is near and that Allah is fully aware of all they do.

A Da‘wah Reflection:

Dear reader, ponder this beautiful truth: the One who created you, who sustains you, and who hears your every whisper — has promised you a meeting with Him. This is not a threat to fear, but a mercy to embrace. If you hope for that meeting, then let that hope fill your heart with peace and your life with purpose. Every prayer you offer, every kindness you extend, every sin you avoid — Allah hears it all and knows it all. He is closer to you than your own veins, and His promise is true. So live today as one who is certain of tomorrow, and let your hope in meeting your Lord be the light that guides your steps. For indeed, that meeting is nearer than you think, and His reward is greater than you can imagine.

📜 Verse 3-7 — Al-'Ankabut

But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.
Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun Us? Evil is what they judge.
Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allah - indeed, the term decreed by Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
