Yaaa ayyuhan naasu inna wa`dal laahi haqqun falaa taghurrannakumul hayaatud dunyaa; wa laa yaghurran nakum billaahil gharoor
📖 English Meaning
O mankind, indeed the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver.
📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Gharoor (الْغَرُورُ): The Deceiver — this refers to Satan (Iblis), who deceives people with false promises and vain desires.
  • Taghurrannakum (تَغُرَّنَّكُم): Let it not deceive you or delude you.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O mankind! Allah addresses all of humanity here — believers and disbelievers alike — with a profound and timeless reminder. The promise of Allah is absolute truth: the promise of resurrection, the gathering on the Day of Judgment, the weighing of deeds, the reward of Paradise for the righteous, and the punishment of Hellfire for the wicked. There is no doubt in it, no alteration, and no delay beyond what Allah has decreed. This promise is as certain as the rising of the sun, for Allah does not break His word.

Therefore, do not let the life of this world deceive you. Its pleasures, its glitter, its temporary joys, and its fleeting comforts are but illusions that vanish like a mirage. The world calls you to forget your purpose, to chase after wealth, status, and desires — yet all of this will come to an end, while the Hereafter is eternal. How foolish it is to trade an everlasting abode for a transient one!

And beware — do not let the Deceiver (Satan) deceive you regarding Allah. He whispers to you, beautifying sin, delaying repentance, and making you feel secure in disobedience. He tells you: "Allah is Forgiving, so do as you please," or "You have time; repent later," or "Your good deeds outweigh your bad deeds." These are his traps. He makes you forget Allah's justice while exploiting His mercy, and makes you forget His mercy while terrifying you with His punishment — all to lead you astray.

Satan is your open enemy. He has sworn to mislead the children of Adam, and his only goal is to drag you into the Fire. So take him as an enemy, and do not obey him. He calls his followers only to ruin, so that they may become companions of the blazing Fire.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse is a wake-up call from your Lord — a call of mercy and love. Allah does not need your worship; you need His guidance. He warns you because He cares for you, because He wants you to succeed. The life of this world is like a shadow that lengthens in the morning and disappears by noon. Do not let it deceive you. And do not let Satan — who has no power over you except through your own heedlessness — steal your eternal happiness.

Every breath you take is a step toward your appointment with Allah. The wise one is he who prepares for that meeting. The successful one is he who recognizes the deception of this world and the whispers of Satan, and turns instead to his Lord with sincerity, repentance, and good deeds. Allah's promise is true — so make your life a preparation for that truth, and you will find, on that Day, what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has ever imagined: eternal bliss in the presence of the Most Merciful.

📜 Verse 3-7 — Fatir

O mankind, remember the favor of Allah upon you. Is there any creator other than Allah who provides for you from the heaven and earth? There is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded?
And if they deny you, [O Muhammad] - already were messengers denied before you. And to Allah are returned [all] matters.
O mankind, indeed the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver.
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze.
Those who disbelieve will have a severe punishment, and those who believe and do righteous deeds will have forgiveness and great reward.
