Word Meanings:

  • Salāmun (سَلَامٌ): Peace, safety, and security; a greeting of blessing and honor.
  • ʿAlā (عَلَىٰ): Upon.
  • Mūsā wa Hārūn (مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ): Prophet Moses and Prophet Aaron, peace be upon them both—two of the greatest messengers of Allah.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Allah the Exalted bestows His divine greeting of peace upon Prophet Moses and Prophet Aaron, peace be upon them both. This is not merely a human salutation; it is a heavenly declaration of honor, safety, and blessing from the Lord of the Worlds. It signifies that they are protected from every harm, purified from every defect, and elevated in the sight of Allah and His creation.

This greeting is a form of praise and commendation from Allah Himself, acknowledging their steadfastness in faith, their patience in delivering the message, and their unwavering devotion to His cause. They endured tremendous hardship—facing Pharaoh’s tyranny, the oppression of their people, and the trials of leadership—yet they remained firm and sincere. As a reward, Allah immortalized their names with this blessed salutation, making it a lasting tribute that echoes through the ages.

This verse also reflects Allah’s justice and mercy: He rewards those who excel in goodness. Moses and Aaron were among the most excellent of His servants—truthful in speech, sincere in intention, and devoted in action. Their reward was not only in the Hereafter but also in this world, as their mention is forever tied to peace and honor.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, ponder how Allah honored these two noble prophets with a simple yet profound phrase: "Peace be upon Moses and Aaron." This teaches us that true honor lies not in wealth, status, or worldly power, but in sincere faith, righteous deeds, and steadfastness in the path of Allah. When we strive to be among the righteous, Allah grants us a legacy that transcends time.

Let this verse inspire you to seek Allah’s pleasure in all that you do. Be patient in adversity, sincere in your intentions, and steadfast in your worship. For just as Allah honored His prophets, He promises to honor His sincere servants—both in this life and the next. May we all be among those who receive the greeting of peace from our Lord, and may we strive to embody the qualities of Moses and Aaron: courage, patience, and unwavering trust in Allah.
