Surah As-Saffat — Verse 51

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this verse, Allah tells us about a scene from Paradise, where the believers are enjoying its eternal bliss. One of the believers speaks up and says: "Indeed, I had a companion in the worldly life." This companion was a close friend who was with him constantly, sharing his daily affairs. However, this companion was a denier of the Resurrection—he rejected the idea that Allah would bring people back to life after death for judgment.

This statement opens a conversation that will reveal the stark contrast between the fate of the believer and that of his disbelieving companion. The believer is now in Paradise, while his former friend is in the Fire. This serves as a powerful reminder that the friendships we form in this world have profound consequences—either leading us toward righteousness or dragging us toward ruin.

The happiness of Paradise is not merely in its gardens and rivers, but in being saved from the misguidance that leads to the Fire. May Allah grant us righteous companions in this world and reunite us with the righteous in the Hereafter.
