- لِتَسْكُنُوا (litaskunū): So that you may find rest and tranquility; to settle and become still.

Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah—and Allah alone—is the One who created the night and the day as a perfect system for your benefit. He made the night dark and cool so that you may find rest, stillness, and tranquility within it. The darkness calms your senses, slows your movements, and allows your body and mind to recover from the fatigue of the day. It is a divine mercy that you often take for granted.
Then, He made the day bright and luminous—"mubṣiran"—meaning that it gives sight and clarity, so that you can see, work, and go about your livelihoods. The light of the day enables you to earn your provision, seek knowledge, and fulfill your responsibilities. Together, the alternation of night and day is a sign of Allah's perfect wisdom and care for humanity.
Indeed, Allah is the possessor of immense favor and grace upon all people. He did not have to create this harmony, but He did so out of His boundless mercy. Yet, despite this overwhelming generosity, most people do not show gratitude. They fail to thank Him through obedience, sincere worship, and the proper use of these blessings in ways that please Him. Their ingratitude stems from ignorance of the true Giver of these blessings, or from heedlessness and distraction.
A Call to Reflection and Gratitude:
Dear reader, pause for a moment and reflect on this magnificent gift. Every single night, you are granted a blanket of darkness that gently lulls you into restful sleep. Every single morning, the sun rises to illuminate your path and enable your endeavors. This is not by chance—it is the deliberate design of your Lord, who knows exactly what you need.
How can we not thank the One who orchestrates this perfect rhythm for us? Gratitude is not merely a word on the lips; it is a way of life. When you wake up each morning and see the light of a new day, let it remind you of the Light of Guidance that Allah has sent to illuminate your heart—the Quran and the Sunnah. When you lay down at night and feel peace envelop you, let it remind you of the greater peace that awaits those who submit to their Creator.
Do not be among those who take these blessings for granted. Be among the grateful—those who recognize the Giver, praise Him with their tongues, and worship Him with their limbs. For Allah's favor upon you is immense, and the key to preserving it is gratitude. As He promised in His Book: "If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]" (Ibrahim 14:7). So thank Him, and He will give you more—both in this world and in the Hereafter, where the ultimate reward awaits the thankful.
